To Wonder

To wonder,
Bright eyes mesmerized by the cosmos,
Hearing the pine trees creak in the summer wind,
Laughing at nothing,
Sweetness lingering on tiptoes,
Ghosts dancing in the logwood fire,
Fresh earth harvested by ancient hands,
Vanquishing stones to the river's murky bottom.

To wonder,
Bravely charging against the surf,
Cold salt blankets doubled up,
Laughing at nothing,
Familial voices caught in the wind,
Daring the vastness,
Crashing, quiet, stillness,
Nestled in the mountains remains.

To wonder,
Laying waste to unspoiled tundra,
Drunken giants stumbling forth,
Laughing at nothing,
Sipping in the weeping sky,
Reaching for the far off howl of copper kettles,
Steam powered youth, chest held tight,
The biting reminder of warm blood and life.
